EIFO — Export and Investment Fund of Denmark
Funds Danish exporters and investors through state-backed financing and trade investment support for international projects.
EIFO, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, is Denmark's export credit agency and national promotional bank. It was created in 2023 from the merger of EKF Danmarks Eksportkredit, Vækstfonden, and Danmarks Grønne Investeringsfond, and it sits at the intersection of export finance, venture support, and green investment.
Its core instruments are loans, guarantees, and equity investments, but the record also shows one grant route: Green Accelerator, with a DKK 85 million pool for sustainable export projects involving Danish enterprises. The wider special-scheme portfolio includes financing for Ukraine reconstruction, African exports, and the Ukrainian defence industry, while the grant side remains narrow and climate-linked.
EIFO is therefore less a conventional grantmaker than a national finance institution. It is most relevant to companies that need export support, risk-sharing, or growth capital, and the public-facing grant opportunity is limited enough that applicants should expect a finance-led relationship rather than an open grant route.
