NH Department of Revenue Administration
Funds New Hampshire tax administration programs focused on compliance, not grantmaking.
NH Department of Revenue Administration (NH DRA) is New Hampshire's state tax authority. It administers the Business Profits Tax, Business Enterprise Tax, Meals and Rooms Tax, Tobacco Tax, Interest and Dividends Tax, and property tax equalization, so its role is fiscal administration rather than competitive grantmaking.
Its main innovation-facing route is the New Hampshire Research and Development Tax Credit. The program has a statewide annual cap of $7 million, a per-taxpayer cap of $50,000, a 10 percent credit formula on qualifying excess R&D expenses, and a June 30 filing deadline through Granite Tax Connect or paper form.
The department also administers the Education Tax Credit, which lets eligible businesses make scholarship donations and claim a state tax credit against BPT or BET instead of receiving a grant. For companies with New Hampshire tax liability, NH DRA matters as a claims office and tax-credit administrator, not as an evaluator of proposals.
