King's Innovation Catalyst is the internal commercialisation and tech-transfer office at King's College London. It exists to help KCL researchers unlock commercial opportunities through IP protection, licensing to industry, and spinout equity. The office comprises three teams: the Translational Research Office, the Industry Research Partnerships Office, and the IP & Licensing Team. Its only directly funded instrument is the Innovation Development Award — a £500,000 internal pot restricted to KCL researchers. The office does not issue open public grants; it signposts KCL researchers to external funders (MRC, NIHR, LifeArc).
