Coefficient Giving (formerly Open Philanthropy, rebranded November 2025) is a major philanthropic organization that has directed over $5 billion in grants since 2014 and in 2025 directed over $1 billion — the most in its history. Its Effective Giving and Careers fund supports a global network of organizations that promote high-impact giving and careers, and in 2026 the fund issued a dedicated RFP for effective career organizations. The program defines effective career organizations as initiatives devoted to providing mentorship, advice, and opportunities to help people pursue highly impactful careers. The Effective Giving and Careers portfolio includes existing grantees such as High Impact Professionals, Impactful Policy Careers, and Probably Good. Effective careers work comprises approximately 20% of the broader portfolio.
The 2026 RFP was open to any organization or project contributing to effective career development, covering talent incubation and career fellowship programs, career counseling and coaching, high-impact career networks, talent matching and headhunting services, and media promoting effective careers. Unrestricted general operating support is the default funding structure; project-specific funding is also considered. Most grants run one to two years and are non-renewable by default. Selection criteria include forecasted impact and cost-effectiveness, strength of theory of change, track record, scalability and growth potential, and strategic fit with the current portfolio. The program is open globally with no restrictions on applicant geography or organization type, except that individual applicants are not considered.
Applications for the 2026 RFP were due by 20 April 2026, with decisions expected by the beginning of June 2026. The RFP is now closed. Program contacts are Kearney Capuano (kearney.capuano@coefficientgiving.org) and Melanie Basnak (melanie.basnak@coefficientgiving.org). Organizations working on career development at country or demographic scale — including programs targeting India, policy students, government workers, or senior professionals — were listed among the types of proposals Coefficient Giving was most interested in.
Talent incubation, career counseling, high-impact career networks, talent matching, policy career programs, and related media.
