CDI Propel Carbontech
Funds external carbontech teams testing early technologies through CDI Propel Carbontech grants.
Eligibility · United States, with New York carbontech program context
Columbia Technology Ventures administers CDI Propel Carbontech as part of the Carbontech Development Initiative, a grant-seeding and commercialization program supported by NYSERDA. Propel is the CDI route for external teams working on early-stage carbontech at TRL 2 to 3.
The captured portal states individual project awards of USD 50,000 to USD 150,000. It also states that applications to Round 4 were closed, and the captured source does not provide the next opening date, a total pool for the portal page, a decision timeline, or a numeric scoring rubric.
Eligibility is not limited to Columbia teams; the source says teams must be external to Columbia University. That leaves a direct path for incorporated startups and other external teams, while Carbontech Leap is excluded because it is restricted to Columbia University core faculty.
Applications use the CDI Submittable portal when a round is open. Applicants should confirm the current CDI round, the exact technology readiness expectations, and any New York-focused program requirements before preparing a submission.
Carbon capture technology and carbon-to-building-materials, carbon-to-chemicals, fuels, and materials projects at TRL 2 to 3.
