Support to the development and certification of EU Digital Identity Wallets
Gives extra funding to the consortia already piloting EU Digital Identity Wallets so they can finish development and certification before the 2026 deadline.
This is a single-stage DIGITAL Simple Grant, with the topic's own budget of €10 million and two grants expected. Because of the tight 2026 issuance deadline, eligible costs can be claimed from the day a proposal is submitted, not only from grant signature.
The call funds development, conformance testing and preparation of national certification schemes for EU Digital Identity Wallets, targeting specifically the Large-Scale Pilot consortia already selected under an earlier 2024 call. It builds toward the legal deadline for Member States to issue a harmonised Wallet by the end of 2026. Funded work covers wallet infrastructure, trust services, and business-application use cases.
