Consumer electronics are becoming a larger waste stream, while many devices are discarded because they cannot be repaired, their batteries cannot be replaced, software support ends or their materials cannot be recovered. This topic funds two projects to make electronics last longer and keep more value in circulation.

Developing, testing and demonstrating ecodesign for consumer electronics, with products built for durability, reuse, repair, disassembly, separation, recycling and higher recycled content. Projects should improve recovery of critical raw materials, test circular business models and incentives, assess environmental performance over the lifecycle, and meet Safe and Sustainable by Design and RoHS requirements. The work should reach TRL 6-8, involve consumers and Social Sciences and Humanities expertise, and include SMEs where relevant.
