Euratom Radiation Protection Partnership (PIANOFORTE)
Funds PIANOFORTE’s 2026-27 continuation, an EU radiation-safety research partnership — only for its current members and any partner who joins them.
This call pays for PIANOFORTE’s next phase: 2026 and 2027. PIANOFORTE is the EU’s co-funded partnership for research into radiation protection and the detection of ionising radiation. It isn’t a normal open competition. The proposal has to come from the coordinator of the consortium the EU already funded for PIANOFORTE’s first phase — grant agreement 101061037, awarded under topic HORIZON-EURATOM-…
A single €15M grant that continues the PIANOFORTE partnership into 2026-2027, as an amendment to its existing grant agreement. It funds coordinated research into radiation protection and detection: risk estimates for medical, occupational, public and accidental exposure; the biological effects of radiation dose and dose-rate; medical applications and patient dosimetry; nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness; and quality assurance for radiation measurement. It also funds the partnership’s own running costs — governance, training, infrastructure access, public engagement, and at least one open call of its own that can pass grants on to third parties.
