Horizon Bioeconomy: Safe Bio-based Farm Inputs
Funds one €20M industrial project making safe bio-based fertilisers or crop-protection products that work in real fields.
Farmers need reliable fertilisers and crop-protection products, but today's mineral and synthetic inputs depend on imported materials and can harm soil and water when overused. This topic funds one industrial project that makes safer bio-based alternatives and proves they work beyond the lab.
The project can cover bio-fertilisers, biostimulants, bioherbicides, biopesticides and bioinsecticides, o…
Demonstrating at TRL 8 the industrial production of Safe and Sustainable by Design bio-based fertilisers, biostimulants and/or crop-protection products, including bioherbicides, biopesticides and bioinsecticides. The project must formulate the products at scale, validate agronomic efficacy, safety and sustainability against market benchmarks, and run field trials with primary producers across selected crops, climates, soils and farming systems including organic agriculture. It must also address feedstock variability, regulatory risks and gaps, soil and water effects, and the SSbD framework.
