European 6G Front-End Microelectronics

Funds a complete tunable 6G radio front-end module for 7–15 GHz, combining European microelectronics with low-energy operation.

OpenEuropean CommissionEU

Future 6G networks need many more antenna elements, higher radio-frequency processing capacity and flexible use of the FR3 spectrum. Europe also wants the essential front-end microelectronics, packaging and know-how to remain within trusted supply chains.

Research must design a comprehensive tunable front-end module for 7–15 GHz, with possible extension to 24 GHz, that supports massive MIMO, spectrum sharing, sub-band full duplex and reuse of 5G cell sites. The module should integrate heterogeneous European microelectronics, mitigate interference and target low cost and low energy use.
