The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade administers the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme as seed support for DPIIT-recognized startups, delivered through eligible incubators across India. The official guideline and live SISFS portal say the scheme provides financial assistance for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, and commercialization. For grant-catalog purposes, this row captures only the non-dilutive grant route: grant support for proof of concept, prototype development, or product trials. The separate support for market entry, commercialization, or scaling through convertible debentures, debt, or debt-linked instruments is not counted as a grant here.

The applicant path is direct for startups, but the money is disbursed through incubators. A startup must be DPIIT-recognized, incorporated not more than two years before application, have a product or service idea with market fit and scope to scale, and use technology in the core product, service, business model, distribution model, or methodology. Indian promoters must hold at least 51 percent at application, and the startup must not have received more than Rs 10 lakh of monetary support under another central or state government scheme.

The live SISFS portal states a final extended startup application deadline of 31 May 2026, with incubators to complete selection by 30 June 2026. As of 24 June 2026, the startup application window has closed. Applicants should treat the page as a reference for the scheme and watch Startup India/DPIIT for any future replacement route.

Proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry, commercialization, and technology-led startup development across sectors including biotechnology, healthcare, energy, mobility, defence, and space.
