The Commission wants better methods for assimilating Sentinel and other satellite observations into Copernicus climate reanalyses, including AI/ML techniques for rescuing and correcting historical observation records and speeding up reanalysis production. It is particularly interested in work that could extend reanalyses back toward the early 1900s and improve the datasets used to attribute extreme weather events to climate change.
