GenAI4EU: Generative AI for Virtual Worlds: Advanced technologies for better performance and hyper personalised and immersive experience (IA) (AI/Data/Robotics & Virtual Worlds Partnerships)
Funds five projects, worth EUR 4–5 million each, that use generative AI to create more realistic virtual-world characters and environments or build smart digital assistants for safe navigation.
Activities are expected to start around Technology Readiness Level 4 and reach TRL 6 by the end of the project. This topic runs as a joint effort between the co-programmed Virtual Worlds Partnership and the ADRA partnership, and every proposal must set aside tasks specifically for cohesion activities with both partnerships, including two named sibling coordination actions: the Virtual Worlds/Web 4…
The Commission wants generative AI that builds more realistic and personalised virtual worlds — dynamic storytelling, personalised avatars and immersive environments — or that powers smart, accessible digital assistants and 3D chatbots, for example to translate languages, support people with disabilities, or guide users through unfamiliar cultures. It favours small, frugal AI models that run at the edge for lower latency and better privacy.
