The Commission wants crystalline silicon PV cell and module designs that extend lifetime up to 40 years, drop silver, indium and other harmful substances, and improve recyclability and field repairability without losing quality or reliability. It wants proposals to develop matching testing methodologies and recycling standards, and to quantify the environmental benefit of recycling precious metals.
