Unleashing the potential and advancing the impact of the digitalization/Artificial Intelligence of the climate-neutral bio-based value chains

Funds AI and digital-twin tools that speed up bio-based manufacturing — from biorefinery process control to predicting biosynthesis pathways.

ClosedEuropean CommissionEU

This is a single-stage Innovation Action funded as a lump sum, and the Commission expects to fund two projects, each up to EUR 5 million in EU contribution. Activities can start at any technology readiness level but are expected to reach TRL 7 by the project's end. Every proposal has to include a dedicated task for sharing its methodologies and findings with other projects funded under this same t…

The European Commission wants new AI and digital tools built for the bio-based industry — image analysis for microbiome screening, AI-predicted metabolic pathways, digital twins of biorefineries — to cut costs and speed up development of bio-based materials and products. Health biotechnology is explicitly out of scope; the focus is industrial bio-based processes and their environmental sustainability and competitiveness.
