Funds research consortia building trustworthy cognitive AI systems that go beyond today's deep learning at reasoning, abstraction and long-term planning.

This EIC Pathfinder Challenge funds new AI models or architectures — including neuro-symbolic approaches — that improve deep reasoning, abstraction and planning beyond current deep learning and large language models, while handling multimodal data under constrained compute. Proposals must demonstrate explainability, transparency, fairness and alignment with the EU AI Act, and show the resulting cognitive AI system performing complex real-world tasks at Technology Readiness Level 4.
