Innovations in Low-Cost and Simplified Pathogen Sequencing Workflows
Funds teams up to $800,000 to build cheap pathogen-sequencing workflows for poorer countries.
Three regional and technical partners support delivery alongside the two funders: the International Pathogen Surveillance Network hosted by the WHO's Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence, the Africa Pathogen Genomics Initiative, and the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative. Whichever tier a proposal lands in, funded work follows the same basic milestone shape: an 18-month plan, with proof-of-co…
The RFP wants sequencing workflow and protocol innovations, not new hardware, that can cut the cost of testing a sample for a priority pathogen -- viral genomes, malaria, tuberculosis, or other bacterial pathogens -- down to roughly $1-10. Proposals should work on existing sequencing platforms, run reliably in public-health labs with limited infrastructure, and be adaptable across pathogens without major retooling.
