KIAT EUREKA Network Advanced Bio International Joint R&D Project
Funds Korean and European biotechnology teams through international joint innovation collaboration.
The 2026 EUREKA Network Advanced Bio International Joint R&D Project is the first KIAT-administered funding call specifically supporting international collaborative R&D in Korea's advanced bio sector through the EUREKA pan-European network. KIAT announced the call on 27 April 2026 under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's authority, and active recruitment of participating Korean medical and biotech companies was ongoing as of early May 2026. KIAT formally launched the program at the EUREKA Global Innovation Summit held in Basel, Switzerland, on 6 May 2026, where around 1,000 participants from more than 40 countries gathered for partner-matching sessions; Korean company delegations attending that summit were the inaugural cohort under this program.
The program funds TRL 4–8 joint R&D projects between Korean leads — enterprises, universities, or research institutions registered in Korea — and at least one partner from a full EUREKA member country (which may include European Union member states and associated countries). Korean awardees receive KIAT funding; European partners secure matching support through their respective national EUREKA agencies. Submission documentation and any award values specific to this inaugural call had not been confirmed in the records available at the time of research, and a formal deadline had not been published. KIAT is providing active matchmaking support through the EUREKA Global Innovation Summit and the Korea-Switzerland Biohealth Partnership Forum co-hosted with KOTRA, where 15 domestic biohealth companies received direct technical consultations with overseas Korean engineers in May 2026.
Successful applicants pair a Korean bio-sector company or institution with a European counterpart around a joint R&D agenda in advanced bio applications — including novel therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics, or bio-manufacturing platforms. The program's inaugural status means application procedures are still being operationalised, and prospective applicants should engage KIAT directly for the current submission timeline.
International joint R&D grants pairing Korean medical and biotech companies with European EUREKA-country partners to develop advanced bio technologies through Korea's inaugural EUREKA bio-sector track.
