The Commission funds national and Union authorities' own work to prevent and combat counterfeiting of euro banknotes and coins and related fraud, supporting cooperation and best-practice exchange between Member State authorities, the Commission and, where appropriate, third countries and international organisations. Only entities defined as competent national authorities under EU counterfeiting law may apply — not private companies or individuals.
