Interface runs this fund on behalf of the Scottish Government, and the award is paid directly to the Scottish academic partner rather than to the applicant company itself. It covers the academic institution's own project costs -- staff time, facilities and consumables -- for early-stage collaborative work such as feasibility studies (for example, assessing the case for a joint R&D centre), develop

The fund is for companies not currently based in Scotland who want to establish a presence there, working with Scottish universities, colleges or research institutes. Projects need to fit one of nine focus areas the fund has set out: the shift to clean energy, cutting transport emissions, software and IT, digital financial services, digital business services, the space sector, healthtech, reshaping the chemicals industry, and food and drink innovation.
