The Strathclyde Inspire Innovation Challenge is an annual prize competition run by Strathclyde Inspire, the entrepreneurship arm of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The 2026 cycle awarded a total prize fund of £10,000, of which £5,000 was co-funded by Converge Microfinance. The competition targets current University of Strathclyde students at any level who are graduating in 2026 or beyond and have early-stage startup ideas they wish to develop.
Eligibility requires current student status at Strathclyde and that the applicant has received no more than £5,000 in prior funding or support for the specific idea being entered. The application requires a written submission covering a non-confidential project summary, the unique aspects of the idea, market analysis, monetisation strategy, a development plan, and the intended use of prize funds. Shortlisted applicants were invited to pitch in person on the Glasgow campus during the week of 23 February 2026. The shortlist was announced on 20 February, pitches took place that same week, and winners were announced on 5 March. The 2026 cycle closed on 13 February 2026; the next cycle is expected to open in early 2027.
The Innovation Challenge is the highest-value prize competition within Strathclyde Inspire's Explore programme tier, intended for students with a defined concept ready for structured evaluation against market and commercial criteria. Successful applicants receive mentorship from Strathclyde Inspire advisors at the Glasgow campus following the award. Teams or individuals with ideas spanning any technology or sector are eligible, making this an accessible first-funding milestone for student entrepreneurs within the Strathclyde community.
Prize competition awarding up to £10,000 in total prizes to current University of Strathclyde students with early-stage startup ideas, judged on market potential and development plan.
