Long Term Research in Environmental Biology
Funds data series long enough to answer questions a normal grant cycle cannot reach β decades of ecology, evolution and ecosystem measurement.
Some questions in environmental biology cannot be answered inside a three-year grant. Selection acting on a population, organisms whose generations turn over slowly, soil nutrient pools, climate cycles with long return intervals β all of it needs a record longer than a normal award.
LTREB pays for that record. It funds the generation of extended time series in evolutionary biology, ecology and ecβ¦
Extended time series in evolutionary biology, ecology and ecosystem science β selection and other evolutionary processes over time, interspecific interactions varying across time and space, slow-turnover populations, eco-evolutionary feedbacks, intermediate and long-term material pools such as soil nutrients, and long-return-interval climate forcing. Marine ecology goes to Biological Oceanography; marine evolutionary dynamics is accepted here.
