Funds NSF-backed researchers to go and find out whether anyone wants their invention — $50,000 and a structured customer-discovery programme.
I-Corps is NSF's answer to a specific failure: a strong laboratory result that nobody has checked against a real market. The programme's goals are to move foundational research toward the marketplace, to get academia and industry working together, and to give NSF-funded faculty, students and researchers the skills to do it.
