The Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC) is a competitive, non-dilutive grant programme administered by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) and described as one of the largest business-plan competitions in the United States. The Fall 2025 cycle is a closed reference record: applications opened July 29, 2025, closed August 11, 2025, and awardees were announced August 27, 2025. The programme has run twice yearly (Spring and Fall cycles) since its 2010 founding and has logged more than 3,000 applicants, 43 successful exits, and a combined portfolio valuation exceeding $6.16 billion across past cohorts.

Awardees receive a minimum $50,000 in non-dilutive funding — milestone-linked and disbursed after the winner completes required activities — plus a three-month engagement with an ACA Entrepreneur-in-Residence providing customised commercial support. Only for-profit early-stage Arizona ventures are eligible; non-profits, universities, and research organisations are excluded. Selection proceeds through a three-round funnel: an eligibility screen, a semifinalist pitch day for approximately 20 selected startups (with deck-update opportunity), and finalist interviews before a judging panel selects up to 10 awardees. Semifinalists and finalists who do not win gain access to Venture Raise, ACA's 12-week hybrid accelerator.

The Fall 2025 record is preserved in the catalogue to document the Spring/Fall cadence and inform timing for the expected Spring 2026 cycle, which had not been formally announced as of late May 2026. Ventures targeting the next open cycle should anticipate a similar compressed schedule — approximately two weeks from open to close — and prepare investor pitch decks and eligibility documentation in advance. The programme's track record of awardees raising an average $123 million in follow-on capital makes the AIC among the highest-leverage non-dilutive grants available to Arizona-based early-stage technology companies.
