Databricks for Startups
Offers early-stage data and AI startups Databricks resources, credits, and hands-on guidance for technical workloads.
Databricks for Startups is a continuous support program from Databricks Inc. that provides early-stage, data-centric companies with up to $50,000 in Databricks platform credits usable across the company's unified Data Intelligence Platform — covering compute, storage, and AI workloads including Delta Lake, MLflow, and foundation model APIs. The program runs on a rolling basis with no published deadline and accepts applications through an open form on the Databricks website.
The program is designed for venture capital-backed startups building data and AI products, and it explicitly does not disburse cash — all support is delivered as in-kind platform credits. In addition to the credits, participants receive free business-tier technical support, access to Solution Accelerators (pre-built notebooks and best-practice guides), access to Databricks' partner ecosystem including foundation model providers, and eligibility for consideration for the invitation-only Databricks AI Accelerator Program. There are no published company age or stage cutoffs in the public eligibility criteria, though the program is oriented toward VC-funded companies actively building on the platform. Nonprofits, universities, and government entities are not eligible; only for-profit companies may apply.
To maximize the likelihood of admission, applicants should demonstrate active or planned use of the Databricks platform as a core part of their technical architecture — the program is not designed for teams evaluating the platform peripherally. Strong applicants typically have a clear data or AI use case (such as a large-scale ML pipeline, a lakehouse architecture, or a generative AI application) and are in the early stages of building rather than pre-revenue ideation. Accepted companies may progress to the invitation-only AI Accelerator Program, which offers additional equity investment and deeper Databricks engagement.
