NASA SBIR Ignite Phase II is a follow-on award administered by NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) under the broader NASA SBIR/STTR program. It is designed to give Phase II-equivalent funding to companies that participated in or are eligible through the Ignite initiative, which targets high-growth, product-oriented startups and small businesses — including those with no prior NASA experience. The 2024 cohort awarded up to USD 850,000 per company over 24 months to continue developing technologies in three defined topic areas.

Each award was up to $850,000 and covered a 24-month period of performance. The program does not require cost-sharing. Awards are non-dilutive grants under the federal SBIR statute. No total pool figure was published for the 2024 cohort.

Only U.S.-based for-profit small businesses were eligible. The initiative is described as ideal for companies that have not previously worked with NASA. The 2024 Phase II call followed a Phase I Ignite solicitation; Phase II selectees were announced on the NASA SBIR Ignite page.

The 2024 Phase II solicitation has closed and selectees have been announced. The 2025 Phase I solicitation is also listed as closed on the source page. No future solicitation dates or application portal URLs were published on the source page as of the last verification date. Interested companies should monitor https://www.nasa.gov/sbir_sttr/sbir-ignite/ for future Ignite solicitation announcements.

Note: the source page is a selectee-announcement page for the 2024 SBIR Ignite Phase II call. Per catalog rules, this is not a currently fundable opportunity. The record is stored as wound_down for the 2024 Phase II call. If a future Ignite solicitation opens, a new record or update should be created.

Three topic areas for the 2024 cohort: Aviation-Ready Electrical Energy Storage for All-Electric or Hybrid Electric Aircraft; Leak-Free Cryogenic Valves and Quick Disconnects; Decision Support Tools Leveraging NASA Earth Science Data.
