The Nevada Community Development Block Grant program provides federal infrastructure and public facilities funding to eligible rural local governments across Nevada. The program is administered by the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) as a pass-through from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Since 1982, GOED has awarded more than $108 million through this program to 18 rural communities across the state. The 2026 program cycle follows the established annual schedule: the eligibility phase begins in July 2025, applications are due in February 2026, Advisory Committee meetings are held in late March 2026 subject to Congressional budget passage, and awards are announced with projects beginning the following July 2026.

Grant amounts in recent cycles have ranged from approximately $55,820 to $900,000 per award, depending on project scope and community need. Eligible project categories include infrastructure improvements, public facility construction or rehabilitation, and planning activities that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents. Applications are submitted through the Zoom Grants online portal, and GOED offers an application workshop each cycle to assist eligible communities. Program contact is Jessica Sanders, CDBG Program Administrator, at (775) 687-9919.

Only the 26 designated unincorporated general-purpose local governments (UGLGs) and small cities in rural Nevada may apply; the eligible community list includes Churchill County (Fallon), Elko County and its cities, Humboldt County (Winnemucca), Nye County, White Pine County (Ely), Lyon County, and approximately a dozen additional rural jurisdictions. For-profit businesses, nonprofits, universities, and individuals are not eligible. The program is unavailable to communities served by the State's CDBG Entitlement program, which covers Clark and Washoe Counties separately under direct HUD administration.
