ARC Future Fellowships
Funds mid-career Australian researchers through ARC Future Fellowships with salary support and project resources for four-year national-impact work.
ARC Future Fellowships sits in the Discovery program and supports outstanding mid-career researchers at Australian universities. The scheme is intended to recruit and retain researchers in continuing academic positions while they deliver work of national or international benefit. Each fellowship lasts four years. The ARC pays the Fellow's salary at one of three levels and can add up to AUD 60,000 a year in project funding for personnel, equipment, travel, and field research, with essential travel allowance up to AUD 100,000 over the life of the award. The scheme runs once a year, with applications submitted through the university Administering Organisation. The strongest applications usually align with National Science and Research Priorities and show a credible path to collaboration beyond the host university. The scheme rewards researchers who already have momentum and can use protected time to extend a serious program of work, so the case for retention, impact, and leadership matters as much as the research plan itself. Medical research remains outside the ARC's remit.
