ARC Mid-Career Industry Fellowships

Funds mid-career researcher mobility through ARC MCI fellowships by combining industry placement and university work for applied translation.

ARC Mid-Career Industry Fellowships also sits in the ARC's Linkage program and targets mid-career researchers who need a formal bridge between university and industry settings. The scheme is meant to strengthen collaboration, commercialisation, and translation while involving HDR students and early-career researchers where useful. When active, it can support up to 25 fellowships a year. Each award runs for four years and includes salary contribution plus up to AUD 290,000 in project costs, with the fellow spending time in both the university and industry settings. The scheme is paused pending the ARC's NCGP policy review, so it is absent from the current live calendar. The profile is more demanding than a standard research fellowship because the proposal has to justify both the cross-sector arrangement and the practical value of the industry link. Applicants should present a serious collaboration plan, a credible research agenda, and a reason the project needs a mid-career researcher who can operate across those two environments. The ARC's medical-research exclusion still applies.
