CSIRO Kick-Start

Funds early-stage Australian startups and small firms through CSIRO Kick-Start vouchers, enabling joint problem-solving projects with CSIRO experts.

CSIRO Kick-Start pairs Australian start-ups and small SMEs with CSIRO researchers and provides dollar-matched funding of $10,000 to $50,000 per voucher to investigate technical challenges, refine concepts and move ideas closer to market. To qualify, businesses must hold an ACN or ICN, be GST-registered, and either have annual turnover and operating expenditure under $10 million or have been trading for less than three years. International companies and Australian subsidiaries of international companies are not eligible. The program is open year-round on a rolling EOI basis. Eligible businesses can access up to two vouchers in sequence — a second voucher is available only after the first project is completed and all reporting obligations are met. Projects are typically 2–12 months in length, capped at one year. Minimum combined project value is $20,000. CSIRO has worked with 325 Australian businesses to date and continues to scope each project jointly with the relevant CSIRO business unit.

Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
