Community Energy Upgrades Fund (CEUF)
Funds Australian local governments upgrading pools, libraries, and community facilities with cleaner energy systems.
The Community Energy Upgrades Fund sits under the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and was administered through the Business Grants Hub at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. It funded local government upgrades to community facilities such as pools, libraries, sporting grounds, and community centres, with the aim of cutting energy use and electrifying everyday public assets. The program was a one-off budget measure rather than an ongoing call. CEUF distributed AUD 100 million across two rounds of AUD 50 million each. Eligible applicants were local government bodies, including joint local governments, with ABNs and control over the relevant buildings. Funding supported heat pumps, efficient lighting, battery storage, EV charging, and related electrification works, with councils required to match the investment. The program is now closed, with both rounds awarded and the full envelope disbursed. It suited councils that already owned or managed suitable facilities and could bundle a practical energy-saving package into a single application. No third round has been announced, so the record is best read as a completed grant round rather than an open funding route.
No upcoming rounds verified. Cadence: One-off.
