The Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund (VMRAF) was launched in 2017 by the Victorian Government. It provides annual competitive grants to accelerate health and medical research and fast-track translation into clinical and health practice. As of Round 8 (the most recent), the program funded 122 projects totalling over AUD 22 million. Two tiers exist: Tier 1 (up to AUD 100,000) for early-stage innovative research with translation potential, and Tier 2 (up to AUD 500,000) for fast-tracking translation to clinical/health practice. Round 8 had a total budget of approximately AUD 1.5 million. Eligible recipients include universities, hospitals, research institutes, and companies operating in Victoria.
