BRAIN-be supports interdisciplinary research networks in Belgium across three pillars: challenges of the living and non-living world, heritage science, and federal societal challenges. Phase 2.0 (2018-2023) funded 180+ projects across these pillars. The 2.0 cycle concluded with its final call in 2022-2023. No BRAIN-be 3.0 successor has been announced on belspo.be as of May 2026. The programme website now functions as a project directory rather than an active call page.
