P4Science

Funds Belgium's federal scientific institutions to strengthen excellence and impact across six core research domains.

Belgian Science Policy OfficeBelgiumGrant

P4Science is the Belgian Science Policy Office's federal grant programme for scientific excellence inside Belgium's ten Federal Scientific Institutions. It funds research across six areas: FAIR principles and AI models, heritage conservation methods, present and past societies, ecosystems and climate health, earth system processes and natural-hazard risk, and astronomy, earth and planetary science. The current 2026-2027 call opened on 7 May 2026. It uses a two-stage route with an Expression of Interest followed by a full proposal, with EoI and DG confirmation due 25 June 2026, full proposals due 1 October 2026, and project start set for 15 March 2027. Applicants submit through the online platform and must work within the FSI system; the call materials include guidelines, templates, budget rules, and evaluator information. P4Science is best suited to federal institutes that can frame a strong research question within one of the six themes and move quickly through internal institutional confirmation. Because the programme is built around scientific excellence rather than broad public competition, the decisive factor is a proposal that fits the FSI remit, reads as methodologically solid, and lands inside the priority area chosen for the call.
