Research Platforms (RPF)
Supports funding for transdisciplinary research consortia tackling thematic challenges in the Brussels-Capital Region.
Research Platforms (RPF) is Innoviris's annual thematic call for transdisciplinary research consortia in the Brussels-Capital Region. The 2026 theme was sustainable energy transition in urban areas, and the programme requires research teams to work with at least one Brussels company acting as a mentor. It is structured for collaborative research that can be turned toward regional use. Projects run for two to three years and are funded at 100% for the research organisations. The application has two phases: an outline followed by a full proposal for shortlisted teams, with expert-panel review and an interview. The 2026 cycle is suspended, and any 2027 return depends on budget. The strongest fit is a consortium of at least two Brussels-based research organisations with complementary expertise and a clear route to valorisation in the region. The programme rewards structured collaboration more than a standalone lab effort, so teams need a defined theme, a credible mentor relationship, and a plan that reads as applied research with regional impact.
