BNDES Garagem

BNDES Garagem is BNDES's accelerator for impact-oriented startups and businesses in Brazil that address economic, social, and environmental challenges. The third edition runs through 2028 and selects 100 solutions a year, building on a history of more than 300 accelerated solutions. Quintessa serves as execution partner. Selected teams receive mentoring, networking, acceleration support, and cash prizes rather than equity investment. The program is organized into two tracks, Criação for early-stage teams and Tração for scale-up businesses, plus the BNDES Garagem Mais Brasil regional bonus for the Norte and Nordeste and for Economia da Periferia. Awards run from R$20,000 to R$160,000, and each cycle lasts about six months across two phases. The eligibility profile favors Brazilian companies and nonprofits that are already committed to impact work and can use structured acceleration well; universities, research organizations, and individuals are out. Portuguese-language documentation is required, and the program is best suited to teams that can turn mentoring into execution. Its strength is breadth rather than deep sector specialization, with the selection framed around social, environmental, and economic usefulness.
