Regular Research Grant (Auxílio à Pesquisa Regular, APR)
Supports Continuous flow academic research grants for São Paulo researchers across all scientific fields.
Auxílio à Pesquisa Regular (APR) is FAPESP's core rolling grant for academics based at higher-education and research institutions in São Paulo. It covers every field of knowledge and sits at the center of the foundation's ordinary research funding, giving investigators a stable route for projects that do not belong to a themed call. The instrument is open year-round through SAGe and uses a grant model rather than a loan, prize, or equity route. The public APR page does not publish a fixed award cap, and project values vary; the usual exceptional ceiling is R$600,000, with larger requests moving through an enquadramento step. APR is also the São Paulo-side modality used in bilateral calls such as M-ERA.NET, NSF Geosciences, UKRI, and DFG. Eligibility is narrow and deliberate. Applicants must be affiliated with a university or research organization, operate in Brazil, and work on the Brazilian side of the project; individuals, for-profits, and nonprofits are not eligible. For research groups anchored in São Paulo institutions, APR is the standard path when the work needs peer-reviewed support rather than a special-purpose call, and its broad scope makes it the default base layer for many international collaborations.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
Funds academic researchers in São Paulo developing diverse innovation projects.
Funds transnational materials and engineering collaborations between Brazilian and international partners.
