AI Compute Challenge
Invests to establish AI data centres and compute infrastructure via the SRF channel intake.
The AI Compute Challenge is the private-sector investment pillar of Canada's Sovereign AI Compute Strategy. Under Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, it directs up to $700 million toward projects that strengthen domestic AI infrastructure and establish fully integrated AI data-centre solutions. Applications move through the Strategic Response Fund on an ongoing basis rather than through a single annual deadline. The program is open to Canadian companies and partnership structures that can show significant provincial or territorial involvement and meaningful participation by Canadian industry, and it is aimed at commercially viable projects ready for near-term implementation. That profile favors teams that already have land, power, partners, and a delivery path in hand. The strongest submissions will look less like exploratory research and more like executable infrastructure plans with a clear route to build, operate, and scale in Canada. It also sits beside SCIP and the Access Fund inside the broader $2 billion Canadian Sovereign AI Compute Strategy, so the opportunity is strategic as much as transactional.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
