ElevateIP
Connects IP strategy education and protection support for Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises delivered via regional accelerator partners.
ElevateIP is Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's intellectual-property support program for Canadian SMEs and innovators. It funds education, IP strategy work, protection support, and commercialization help, but delivery sits with five regional accredited business accelerators and incubators rather than with a single central intake. The regional partners cover Atlantic Canada through Springboard Atlantic, Québec through MAIN, Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan through Communitech, Alberta through University of Calgary partnerships, and British Columbia plus Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories through New Ventures BC Society. The program is open on a rolling basis through those partners, so applicants apply locally instead of directly to ISED. ElevateIP is strongest for teams that need to get serious about IP before they spend heavily on filings, licensing, or investor conversations. The practical path is to work through the regional partner that serves the business's geography and use the program to turn an idea into a defensible commercialization position.
