The Made in California Program is CalOSBA's single-award marketing and outreach grant for promoting the Made in California label among manufacturing businesses. It is aimed at a California-based organization that can run a statewide campaign on the state's behalf, not at manufacturers applying for support themselves. The 2026 competition offered $500,000 in total funding, with at least $300,000 reserved for media buys and up to $20,000 available per sub-recipient for outreach to diverse manufacturers. The performance period ran from March 15, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and the program follows an annual cycle. The fit is narrow and execution-heavy. Successful applicants need manufacturing-marketing capability, a clear outreach plan, and enough operational discipline to manage media placement and partner payments within a single award structure. Its value is in reach, not subsidy depth, so the winning bid has to combine communications discipline with sector credibility. The outreach design also has to move through sub-recipients, which gives the campaign statewide reach while keeping the message close to manufacturers.
