SWEET — SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition
Runs SWEET - SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition, Swiss consortium research programme for solution-oriented innovation in the energy transition.
SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition) is a funding programme of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy that supports solution-oriented research and innovations aligned with Switzerland's Energy Strategy 2050 and long-term climate strategy. It operates through three funding instruments: SWEETER (thematic research consortia), and other tracks covering batteries, hydrogen, PV, and wind. Consortia are the required unit of application; companies and non-academic organisations are now eligible to lead (and are strongly encouraged to do so). The current active call is SWEETER Call 1-2026, focused on industrial processes: (1) optimising high-temperature industrial processes and transitioning away from fossil fuels, and (2) improving reuse, repurposing, remanufacturing, and recycling of energy system components. The call funds one consortium with a total budget of just under CHF 12 million over six years (two consecutive three-year phases with intermediate evaluation). Top-two pre-proposals advancing to full-proposal stage receive CHF 25,000 in dedicated support.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
