BRIDGE — Joint Innosuisse / Swiss National Science Foundation programme
Offers BRIDGE funding in Switzerland at the border of academic discovery and commercial application for researchers with promising translational concepts.
BRIDGE is jointly offered by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and Innosuisse and operates at the intersection of basic research and science-based innovation. It offers two funding opportunities for academically-led innovation, with a single PI as primary applicant (not a research-industry consortium). BRIDGE Proof of Concept is for young researchers with basic research experience and an idea for developing research results into a marketable product. It helps young researchers apply their findings and gain the confidence to enter the market. Projects may target innovations of all kinds from all research areas. BRIDGE Discovery is for experienced researchers with a clear and innovative idea who want to develop the scientific foundations to implement it. It supports researchers working on both basic and applied research, helping them realise the innovation potential of their findings during the critical pre-competitive phase. The 2026 BRIDGE Discovery call is the tenth in the series. Both sub-calls run annually.
