SERI Bilateral Joint Research Projects
Funds Swiss bilateral research partnerships with international partners to enable long-term collaborative projects.
SERI's bilateral joint research project programme supports Swiss researchers collaborating with partners in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia [paused], India, China, South Africa) plus Argentina, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. The programme is co-funded: SERI funds the Swiss side (up to CHF 250,000 per Swiss partner, typically over 3-4 years), while the partner country's agency funds their own researchers. The programme operates via the Leading House model: SERI commissions selected Swiss higher education institutions as "Leading Houses" to operate the calls and manage the international partnerships. The 2025-2028 mandate runs with five designated Leading House institutions. Calls are issued per country pair on a periodic basis; specific deadlines depend on the bilateral agreement timeline.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
