The Young Scientists Fund Class B (formerly Excellent Young Scientists Fund / 优青) sits at the mid-tier of NSFC's talent ladder. Recipients have typically held at least one prior NSFC grant and demonstrated independent research leadership. Class B sits between the entry-level Class C (CNY 300K / 3 yrs) and the elite Class A (CNY 4M / 5 yrs, formerly Jieqing Distinguished Young Scholars).
