GAČR POSTDOC Individual Fellowship — Outgoing
Funds postdoctoral fellowships for Czech researchers balancing international placement with return-focused project continuation.
GAČR POSTDOC Individual Fellowship Outgoing supports Czech postdoctoral researchers who want to spend two years at an international research institution and then return to a Czech host for a final year. It sits alongside the incoming track under the Czech Science Foundation and has been active since 2021, with the aim of bringing internationally trained researchers back into Czech science. The fellowship lasts three years and requires a PhD completed within the past four years. The 2027 call followed the foundation's annual spring timetable, and the 2026 PIF cohort funded 30 projects across both tracks with CZK 145 million in total. The outgoing track uses its own tender documents, separate from the incoming route. This route fits researchers with a strong foreign host, a clear return plan, and enough momentum to turn the overseas phase into a better Czech research position on the way back. The program rewards applicants who can show that the international stint will deepen expertise and that the final year in Czechia will have a concrete landing place.
