Program TWIST (Strategic Technologies R&D)
Supports Program TWIST, backing Czech investments in AI, quantum, and semiconductor technologies through national funding.
TWIST is MPO's national R&D program for strategic technologies in Czechia. Its remit covers artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and semiconductors or microelectronics, and it is a national-funds program rather than an EU structural-funds route. The program runs from 2025 to 2031 with a total budget of 5 billion CZK, and annual public calls are planned through that period. The instrument is a grant. MPO administers TWIST directly through its own portal, not through TAÄŒR or API, and the program uses Czech-language documentation. Three sub-programs shape the offer: applied research in strategic areas for enterprises, innovation into practice for SMEs, and knowledge-transfer vouchers that let SMEs buy licenses or services from research organizations. FY01 has completed, while FY02 is already through formal control and into results handling. The strongest applications are tightly framed around one of the named strategic fields and a clear path from research to use. Firms and, where relevant, research partners should show why the project belongs in AI, quantum, or semiconductors rather than in a broader industrial R&D bucket. The program suits teams that can handle recurring annual calls and follow a staged national program over several years.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
