Innovation Voucher Bavaria (IGS / Innovationsgutschein)

Innovation Voucher Bavaria is the small-business R&D cooperation route under Bayern Innovativ's Project Management Agency and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. It helps small Bavarian companies and craft businesses commission external research and development from universities, research institutes, and other specialist partners. The program is rolling and works through two voucher types. The Standard Voucher covers €4,000 to €38,000 of eligible expenditure at 40%, rising to 60% with bonuses. The Special Voucher covers €30,000 to €99,500 at a fixed 50% rate. The extracted award range runs from €1,600 to €49,750, and the eligibility data shows for-profit companies with up to 50 employees and up to €10 million in revenue, plus some individual applicants who are preparing to establish a Bavarian company. Applicants can receive at most three vouchers in any 24-month period. This route is strongest when a company needs a short, defined piece of external R&D rather than a large internal project grant. The program is a fit for technical validation, specialist analysis, or development work that depends on an outside research provider, and it works best when the company can keep the scope tight and the commercial objective clear.
