High-Performance Computing for the Digital Age
Supports national digital-age computing capacity in Germany through a three-level supercomputing ecosystem combining center investment and shared infrastructure.
High-Performance Computing for the Digital Age is BMFTR’s national supercomputing programme and anchors Germany’s three-tier HPC ecosystem across Gauss centres, supraregional centres, and university or research machine layers. The programme invests in both compute capacity and energy efficiency, and it explicitly supports AI-enabled compute demand. It also links German strategy with EuroHPC cooperation and contributes to long-horizon national AI readiness infrastructure. The strongest fit is for institutions that can operate or deploy shared compute infrastructure and strengthen networked usage. It is most relevant when the application involves sustained national capacity, infrastructure, and utilization outcomes rather than isolated one-off project hardware purchases.
