Germany EXIST is the federal startup support program for university-linked founders under the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. It has been operating since 1998 and is built around supporting technology-oriented and knowledge-based ventures before and during the earliest company-building phase. The program combines the EXIST-Gründungsstipendium and EXIST-Forschungstransfer routes, with awards ranging from about EUR 15,000 to EUR 250,000 and a median award around EUR 150,000. It runs annually, is open to university-affiliated teams and spin-offs, and focuses on founders who are students, graduates, scientists, or researchers.
