Phase 1 (Plan) pays up to nine teams $75,000 each to propose a solution; those teams then spend six months in Phase 2 (Progress) building the software with their utility partner, competing for a share of a $425,000 pool. This round totaled $1.1 million and ended with Electrify USA winning an additional $125,000 grand prize on top of its track win.
